It is located in the northwest area, Montecristi province. The port of Manzanillo was built by Granada S.A.- an American banana exporting company in the 1950s.

It is used for import, general cargo, loose cargo (clinker and mineral coal) and export of refrigerated containers (bananas and fruits).
