About the Port of La Romana

The port of La Romana is located at the mouth of the Romana River. There is a central canal and two docks. The entrance to the canal is 110 meters (361′) wide. The wharf to the west is primarily a sugar and molasses loading port for the Central Romana sugar mill.

It is also used for handling diverse import cargo (fuel, wood, steel and general cargo) for the sugar mill, and more recently some containers are handled in and out of the free industrial zone facilities established in La Romana.

The pier to the east is exclusively for cruise ships.
